  This rating is for my fourth visit to the Blackwater Cafe. I would rate the previous 3 visits as 4 star experiences. In all visits, the service was first rate. There are 2 dining areas: a more formal dining room and a more casual dining area with a bar and TVs. Both dining areas are great.
  
  There were 2 other parties there when we arrived and we were the last party of the evening. Our party of 4 (2 couples) was seated in the main dining area.
  
  We each ordered a salad wedge with blue cheese, bacon and tomato dressing. The wedges were very fresh and the dressing was very good. We also had hot bread which was warm, fresh and very good.
  
  We each ordered a different entree: salmon, pork schnitzel, pot roast and prime rib. The salmon was very dry. The pot roast and prime rib looked identical. When questioned, the waitress said the meats were different but the sauce was the same. That was possibly true but you couldn't see or taste the difference. The schnitzel was reasonably good. The schnitzel came with cabbage - the online menu (which I viewed earlier) showed the schnitzel also included mixed vegetables. When I asked the waitress about the vegetables, she said they do not come with the schnitzel. That was very minor but yet another negative comment on the entrees. On an overall basis, the quality of the food for 3 of the 4 entrees was what I consider below average and certainly not up to the food quality of previous visits. Perhaps we should have brought this up with the restaurant staff during our visit but we were there celebrating and focused on that.
  
  The visit was on a weeknight (9/28/2016), well after the peak summer season at Smith Mountain Lake so perhaps we came at a bad time or perhaps this was just an off night. The food should be consistently good regardless and it wasn't the on this visit.
